Rainy days=Soft dirt

Bandit here: Wow. We've had a lot of rain. And that's good since the drought made the ground hard, and I had trouble pulling out the tree roots I'd been working on. But today, I managed to pull up a few roots. I'd started working on the crape myrtle when it started pouring again. I'll let you know how I do tomorrow. It should be positively muddy!

My Dad seems to like the soft dirt too. He's doing something strange to the fence with chicken wire and big, yellow stakes. It just doesn't make sense to me....

Well, the wire does present challenges, but you can conquer it. We've seen chicken wire, and it generally means you have to loosen it with your teeth, pull it sideways and yank real hard using your lowest stance. If it's stapled, then you should hear the staples pop right out. If it's not, then you can loosen it just enough to slither under.
Then they'll walk around trying to figure out how you got to the other side. Be sure to stand right behind them while they are looking at the hole, so they don't get too mad when you've done it.
