Busy wiener weekend

There's been a lot going on this weekend. It's been raining and really warm and now it's gotten dark and really cold. We took a run through the neighborhood while Dad was grilling the staff dinner. I'm not sure he was pleased about that.

All in all, it's been a very successful two days. We've dug lots of holes -- one mole trail went from under mom's potted plants near the porch all the way across the yard, under the blooming pentas to the soft spot near the bird bath. We dug out most of it, but moles were already gone. It was easy since we had some rain. Mom wasn't real thrilled that we had to go under the pentas, and Bandit (at right with a snoot-full of dirt) nearly got beaned when the potted coleus fell over. But, it was a good exercise.
We figure if we dig up enough trails, the moles will take the hint and go. Of course, then we'll have to dig up something else!

And a couple notes:
- A shout-out to Uncle Brad. We see your Dolphins finally won a game! Yay!
- As of today, 1241 people have looked at something on Lowdogworld. Wow! Thanks for stopping by!

Maggie & Bandit

Sorry it has been a while since we have been in touch. We have been busy with visiting dachshunds that our staffers call fosters.

First we had Hoover... a boy...yuck! Don’t our staffers know we are a girls club and boys aren't allowed? But our staffers explained that as a foster he didn't have a home, staff or big bed to sleep in of his own. That he needed a place to stay until he found his own staff to care for him. So we decided that for a boy he wasn't too bad and let him hang with us until he went to his new home in Alexandria, VA.

Then Jill arrived ... they say she is a dachshund. But instead of being black & tan or red, she was white with black spots like a Dalmatian. She was only 2, but already had had 3 litters of puppies and never a chance to have any fun. And all those puppies ruined her girlish figure ... they say she needs something called a tummy tuck. Well, she is now with her new people here in Va Bch and will never have another puppy.

Christie arrived on Fri. She had been living alone in the woods for a while, which sound like lots of fun.. no rules, lots of things to chase and you can do whatever you want. But she told us that she had no kibble to eat, warm bed to sleep in, toys or staffers to protect & love her. So next time you run the neighborhood, don't go too far from home. All Christie wants is a forever home and never to be alone again.

All and all this foster thing has been OK and the staffers are pleased that we are learning to share with our foster siblings. Plus this might put us in good standing with Santa and we might get extra presents!!

We hope you have very Happy Howliday.

PS. We have been telling all our doxie friends about your blog and we talked about it at the dachshund meetup yesterday.

Wow, that's quite a snootful of scents you're displaying there, Beez.

Thanks for pulling for the Phins!
